The Rational Unified Process? (RUP) is a rigorous software development process primarily focused on software engineering. However, there is far more to the system lifecycle than software development, you also need to support and operate your software once it is in production. Furthermore, most organizations need to manage many systems, therefore they need a true IT process which considers cross-system issues as well.
The Enterprise Unified Process (EUP) extends the RUP to address the real-world concerns of large organizations. The EUP addresses the cross-system issues related to disciplines such as strategic reuse management, enterprise business modeling, enterprise architecture, portfolio management, people management, enterprise administration, software process improvement (SPI), system operations & support, and system retirement. The engineering activities outlined in RUP are closely tied to these areas. Understanding and integrating these areas with RUP is key to effective process deployment that can deliver ultimate business results.
In this webinar Scott will briefly provide the overview of RUP and then describe how the EUP extends the RUP to deliver integrated IT development and management processes. This presentatoin is not only suited for Fortune 1000 Organizations and Government Agencies using RUP but also but also to those users who want to extend and integrate their own engineering methodologies in support of an integrated process development.
