Co-presented by Randy Miller, Microsoft
The Microsoft Solutions Framework (MSF) provides people and process guidance- the proven practices of Microsoft - to help teams and organizations become more successful in delivering business-driven technology solutions to their customers. MSF is a deliberate and disciplined approach to technology projects based on a defined set of principles, models, disciplines, concepts, guidelines, and proven practices from Microsoft. For most organizations, the challenge lies in customizing or tailoring and then enacting process based on MSF.
This session will first introduce SPEM (Software Process Engineering Metamodel) from OMG (Object Management Group) as a standard-based process metamodel, which facilitates the abstraction and reuse of process assets. Next, MSF will be introduced as a high-level process framework along with its highly complementary mapping to SPEM. This session will then demonstrate how MSF framework can be easily tailored to meet specific project needs. Tailoring in this context include integration with internal processes and standard quality frameworks such as CMM, CMMI, ISO.
The webinar will also showcase how easily tailored MSF process can be disseminated as published web-sites or auto-generated process documents in MS-Word or PDF formats. Examples of enacting MSF processes using MS-Project, SCM tools and Process Solutions such as IRIS Process Live will also be presented.
The presentation will conclude with a demonstration of a customized MSF process been enacted using Microsoft's upcoming Visual Studio Team System.
