BOSTON, MA, 9 September, 2003 – Today at Integrate.2003, OMG’s (Object Management Group) annual conference being held in Boston, Osellus demonstrated full automation of several key application development processes based on OMG’s Model Driven Architecture (MDA). Osellus’s process automation system – IRIS – was used to model, enact and monitor MDA-based software development processes that encompassed the full application life-cycle.

“Development organizations are increasingly convinced of the benefits of adopting a model driven approach for application development,” says Payman Hodaie, CTO at Osellus. “However, the full extent of these benefits can be accrued only through implementation and streamlining of the supporting model-driven processes. We have demonstrated the viability and benefits of using IRIS to automate the model-driven processes that are so indispensable for a successful MDA implementation.”

IRIS automates MDA processes using SPEM (Software Process Engineering Metamodel), the open industry standard from OMG. The company demonstrated the use of IRIS to create new MDA-based process blocks, assemble full MDA processes from individual process components, and enact these processes across multiple application development projects that entail a range of deployment platforms. The aforementioned processes encompass the creation and transformation of all facets of a full-scale MDA implementation.
