SAN DIEGO, CA., 24 May, 2004 – Today at the Microsoft Tech·Ed 2004 conference, Osellus announced IRISMSF, a version of the company's leading process automation system aimed at extending Microsoft's new Visual Studio 2005 Team System in the areas of process modeling and customization.

“Microsoft is pleased that Osellus has plans to integrate its solution into Visual Studio 2005 Team System, ”said Beny Rubinstein, product manager in the Visual Studio Developer Marketing Group at Microsoft Corp. “Organizations that plan to utilize the new capabilities of the Visual Studio Team System can use IRISMSF to develop new customized process templates that accurately reflect their development processes and execute them with minimum effort.”

“The combination of IRISMSF and the Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Team System offers a viable software process automation solution to customers that previously considered a process-centric approach out of reach, ” says Omid Hodaie, CEO of Osellus. “As importantly, process mature organizations can use IRISMSF to create libraries of tailored processes and deploy these on the Team Foundation Server with minimum effort. Process automation is now more accessible by a greater segment of the market. ”

Processes created with IRISMSF are completely standards-based and can be printed, published online, and turned into Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Team System templates. IRISMSF is fully compliant with Object Management Group's (OMG) new SPEM (Software Process Engineering Metamodel) open specification.

Organizations that use the CMM (Capability Maturity Model) or CMMI (Capability Maturity Model Integration) process improvement frameworks today can use the combined solution to define, execute, enforce, and measure standard processes across all their software development projects.

In addition to interfacing with the Team Foundation Server, IRISMSF also includes an out-of-the-box interface to the Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Team System. “The full benefits of process automation can be realized only if the process automation system can transparently fit into customer's installed base of development tools. With IRISMSF, we have lowered the adoption threshold for process automation in Microsoft development environments. ” says Hodaie.

IRISMSF includes a native interface to Microsoft Office Project 2003 that allows project managers to create the project instance of their MSF baseline processes in a comprehensive single-step manner. IRISMSF is available for the Microsoft SQL Server 2000 platform.

IRISMSF Availability

The initial version of IRISMSF that can model and enact MSF based processes is available immediately. Support for the Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Team System will be made available with its general availability.
